Buccaneers sign Jerramy Stevens

04/30/2007 Mookie 2 comments

Jerramy Stevens, forever famous with this mugshot (which I’ll continue to show until the end of time), has been signed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Stevens, notably with the Seahawks for several years, was released after having one drink too many in addition to his possession of marijuana. With the regular season kicking off less than 5 months from today, guess who the Seattle Seahawks have the pleasure of hosting in their home opener? If you don’t know the answer, you’ve probably been having one too many yourself. So on September 9th, Jerramy gets to return to the great city of Seattle. The only difference is that if he drops the football (which is certain), the crowd will be cheering instead of booing.

You have to ask yourself, if Jerramy Stevens scores a touchdown in his return, will he enjoy the possibility of being showered with beer by the crazy drunk fans?

My Answer: This is Seattle fools! He’d probably get drenched with a $5.00 Double Mocha Latte from Starbucks!

Speaking of Basketball

I was shooting hoops with my dad Saturday morning, and we had 2 free throw shooting contests. The 1st one was whoever could make 5 free throws first wins. The 2nd one, was whoever could make 4 free throws in a row wins. Now recently, my dad has not been in great health, but not to the point where he is 6 feet under. He’s got a bad wrist, which prevents him from getting a high arch on his shot, and last year suffered a series of tiny blood clots in his leg. The good news is that he has recovered from the blood clots, the bad news is that his leg will never be the same again.

Anyway, we had the contest in an effort to have me improve my shooting and dribbling, and him to improve his health, should be easy right?

Contest 1: We both shot free throws in sets of 3. After my dad took an early 2-1 lead, I stormed back to take a 4-3 lead, needing only one free throw to win. I had 2 more shot attempts left in the set to win the game, and missed both of them. Now my dad needed to make 2 out of 3 free throws to claim victory. He made the 1st one, tie game. I couldn’t even watch as he made the 2nd shot to beat me 5-4. MY 400 YEAR OLD DAD BEAT ME! I couldn’t believe it, I was in utter shock.

contest 2: Wasn’t even close, my dad beats me in both contests as we come home.

As always, we laughed, we had fun, now I have to make sure that I make a free throw every once in a while.

NBA Playoffs 07: Boring

Here are the results from today:

Bulls 92 Heat 79 (Chi 4-0): I’m shocked at the way the Heat played in all 4 games. I expected them to win at least 2 games, but Chicago has done it, they have swept the defending champs! The next series for the Bulls will be against the Detroit Pistons.

Suns 113 Lakers 100 (Phx 3-1): The Suns ran rings around these guys, 23 assists by Steve Nash, and 21 rebounds from Amare Stoudemire is inexcusable if you’re Phil Jackson. Kobe Bryant scored 31 points, and once again barely got any help. Game 5 is a couple of days from now, which should be the clincher for Phoenix.

Nets 103 Raptors 81 (NJ 3-1): Just admit it, this year’s playoffs is just plain boring. Looks like Toronto’s season will end in round 1 unless they pull a miracle and win their final 3 games.

Warriors vs. Mavericks is currently being played, and that result will be told here tomorrow.

The Seattle Seahawks select……………………

04/27/2007 Mookie Leave a comment

Well it’s the day before the real NFL Draft and Awful Announcing has completed the ultimate blogger’s mock draft.

So without further ado, my pick for the Seattle Seahawks is…………………………..

Brian Leonard, Running Back/ Full Back from Rutgers University.

Leonard could be the next Jerome Bettis, a 6′1 228 pound guy who once was a heisman candidate before taking a diminished role as a tremendous blocker for Ray Rice, the other star RB. He ran a 4.49 at the combine, the fastest time for all fullbacks, and bench pressed 225 lbs 28 times. Current fullback, Mack Strong, is 4,221 years old, so a guy like him could be a great replacement in addition to helping that crappy offensive line we have. He’s a receiving threat, which could help the tight end situation that Jerramy Stevens messed up, and a power guy on the run game, things that current Strong doesn’t have at all. anymore.

Question: Could he be with the Hawks tomorrow?

Answer: Probably not, but if the Seahawks can trade up and improve their position in the draft, they certainly have a chance.

NBA Recap for last night

Lakers 95 Suns 89 (2-1 Phx): The fact that the Suns scored over 28 points in the 1st quarter and finished with 89 is shocking to me already. The Lakers proved that Kobe CAN drive a team to victory if his teammates do well. 45 from Kobe, and 19 from Kwame Brown.

Jazz 81 Rockets 67 (2-1 Hou): Crapola, garbage, boring, awful. Only 4 Rocket players scored last night! So now the Jazz have zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Pistons 93 Magic 77 (3-0 Det): Detroit just whips the Magic after Orlando kept it close throughout the 1st half. After TeyShaun Prince hit a jumper from the corner, the Magic threw away the inbounds pass straight to Prince, who passed it to Chauncey Billups, who made a fade away 3 from way outside to send the dagger to the Magic in the 1st half.

SSreporters NBA Playoff Predictions: Round 2

Read the previous post to see who I liked in round 1.

Eastern Conference

(1) Pistons vs. (5) Bulls: Ben Wallace returns to Detroit, where he was dominant throughout. The Pistons have a great defense, but the Bulls are just the better team in my opinion. Bulls in 7.

(2) Cavaliers vs. (3) Raptors: The way the Raptors and Cavs are playing, neither one of them deserves to advance. However, Cleveland is more talented and aggressive with Lebron James, the Raptors season ends with the Cavaliers in 6.

Western Conference
(1) Mavericks vs. (5) Rockets: No contest, T-Mac and the rockets get ousted in 5.

(2) Suns vs. (3) Spurs: At WBRS Sports Blog, I had the Spurs in 7, but now it looks like it’s the other way around with the incredible play by Phoenix, and the inconsistency by San Antonio against their respective opponents. Suns in 7

Chelsea vs. Liverpool

04/26/2007 Mookie 1 comment

Chelsea beat Liverpool yesterday 1-0 on a goal by Joe Cole. So with both semifinals finished with leg 1, Chelsea and Manchester United both have 1 goal leads on aggregate.

The games are next Tuesday, so who wins?

NBA Recap

Mavericks 112 Warriors 99: Series tied at 1-1 after 2 technical fouls by Baron Davis and Stephen Jackson. Baron was ejected after clapping in a sarcastic way when he picked up his 5th foul. The Mavs had easy control throughout the 2nd half after trailing by as many as 7 in the 1st half.

Cavaliers 109 Wizards 102: After leading by 13 points, the Cavaliers let the Wizards rally, until Antawn Jamison missed a 3 that would’ve cut the lead to 2. Free throws sealed the game, and the Cavs have a 2-0 lead.

Spurs 97 Nuggets 88: Pretty much the same situation as the Cavs/Wizards game, but the Spurs had a 17 point lead, the Nuggets cut it to 3 with less than a minute. However, Tim Duncan extended the lead to 5 on a jumper, and then the Spurs clinched with free throws and the series is now tied at 1-1.

NBA scores last night

Raptors 89 Nets 83: Raps even the series at 1-1. The game was on NBA TV, which I don’t have, but considering the 1st quarter score was 14-12, I’m pretty sure I didn’t miss much.

Bulls 107 Heat 89: The Bulls are up 2-0 after torching the Heat in the 4th quarter, particularly Luol Deng, who scored 16 points in the final period.

Suns 126 Lakers 98: The Phoenix Suns officially own the LA Lakers. If the Suns won by 28, what’s to describe?
