Your fantasy Soccer team is tied 1-1, and gets a free kick at the edge of the 18 yard box. It’s the last chance of the game as stoppage time is almost complete. Which player do you want to take the possible winning free kick?

A. Cristiano Ronaldo

B. Ronaldinho

C. David Beckham

D. Zinedine Zidane

E. Other

Note: If you pick other, you are allowed to pick a footballer who has retired from all soccer competition.

Can you spell Xanthosis?

The Scripps National Spelling Bee began today, and will finish up tape delay on the west coast tomorrow on ABC. Here’s the fun part, with me no longer being eligible for the spelling bee forgetting to tape it this morning, I get to here commentary from Mike Greenberg and Mike Golic from the Mike & Mike in the Morning show on ESPN Radio.

Personally, I see no purpose in having announcers for a spelling bee, but why do you need radio hosts (especially Mike Golic) to announce it? I can imagine the analysis after a speller gets the word right.

Speller: k-r-z-y-z-e-w-s-k-i, krzyzewski.

Judge: That is correct.

Goldberg: Such great composure by young Ben Dover Backwards.

Golic: The way he spelled that word Mike was like a quarter back, he took his time, he did well under pressure, and calmly delivered the judges the correct spelling.

Why ESPN/ABC? I would’ve preferred Ken Jennings to be an announcer than those two. I think both of them are very good on the radio, but please, the spelling bee?

Hell will freeze over by the time Kobe makes his decision

What’s the matter with this man? First he says I’ll leave the team if Jerry West doesn’t come back, then he denies it. Then he says that he wants to be traded. He later denied that. If I were Mitch Kupchak, I’d put tape over his mouth and prevent him from talking until he can officially make up his mind.

Breaking News: Kobe Bryant reunites with shaq demands a trade

05/30/2007 Mookie Leave a comment

After the front office mess that is the Los Angeles Lakers, Kobe Bryant has finally decided that he wants to be traded. Bryant called the organization “a mess”, and rightfully so. All I can say being a Seattleite, could you imagine Kobe Bryant, Ray Allen, and Kevin Durant all on the same team? We’d be kicking butts and taking names!

Back to reality, if you look at the Lakers, you tell me who has made a big impact in free agency or the NBA draft. This has become an absolute disaster, and I believe that Phil Jackson will also want out. Have you noticed that he’s been quiet throughout this whole phenomenon? Ok he could be meditating, but you get the idea. Jerry Buss and Mitch Kupchak have messed everything up and should be held accountable for Shaq leaving, and now more than likely Kobe Bryant.

A little Q & A #7

It’s 4th down and 1 with 1:30 to go in the game. You’re team is at the Chicago Bears 49 yard line. There aren’t any QB sneaks in the playbook. Which HB/FB will you rely on to get 1 simple yard behind a struggling offensive line?

A. Shaun Alexander (Although that didn’t work out earlier this year)

B. Brandon Jacobs

C. Jamal Lewis

D. Other

Note: If you pick other, you can’t pick any player who has retired from the NFL.

Jerry Buss has officially screwed up the Lakers

05/30/2007 Mookie 2 comments

The Los Angeles Lakers are like the Dallas Cowboys of the NBA, they can’t seem to go a month without some sort of drama. Now it’s clustered up in a matter of a couple of weeks! Yesterday, team owner Jerry Buss was arrested for DUI. This coming a couple of days after Kobe Bryant wanted Jerry West to come back to LA, and even allegedly wanted to leave the team if they didn’t follow through. Although Kobe has denied those reports, and want to be a lifetime Laker, I believe that he did want out of the team.

This just shows the utter collapse ever since they let go of Shaq. The replacement center should not have been Kwame Brown. Kwame can’t do anything! The fact that they haven’t let him go and let Ronny Turiaf or Andrew Bynum develop into a dominating big man is beyond me. The organization is in disarray, and I think that unless they get better players, ( *cough* Rashard Lewis *cough*) and get rid of the crappy ones ( *cough* Kwame Brown *cough*), the Lakers may never recover from this wild offseason.

We’re all squared!

Sorry for the lack of posts, but I’ve had a very busy day.

Cavaliers 91 Pistons 87 (2-2): Well look here, the Pistons choke away games 3 and 4. Sound familiar? Well if you’re Cleveland, you have to think how this should be a sweep instead of a 2-2 series. Anyway, once again, the Cavs failed to show up in the 3rd quarter after dominating most of the 1st half. But that’s when LeBron took over. He knocked down the game winning free throws to make it a 2 possession game and prevented his team from a 3-1 deficit, and a Spurs/Pistons final. I know, it’s way too exciting. The game was pretty much over once Chauncey Billups stupidly jacked up a three when it was 88-85. Even after LeBron tipped the ball into his own net, Detroit couldn’t come up with the clutch plays in the end. Although everyone will be talking about LeBron James, they should be talking about the young star in Daniel Gibson, he hit all 12 free throws, and finished with 21 points.

Who do I like in the series now? I actually have to say the Cavaliers. I know what you’re saying. Mookie, you picked the Pistons in 5. I know, but if you look at the series pattern, the Pistons have struggled throughout the series and have been outplayed, and are 2 wide open shots from being eliminated from the playoffs. I say Cavs in 7.
