Seattle to get MLS Franchise

Starting in 2009, the MLS will have a new team, this time it’s in Seattle. There is no word on whether or not minor league club Seattle Sounders would be promoted to MLS. The official announcement will be stated next week, as the MLS regular season comes to a close. Congratulations Seattleites, we finally have a pro team.

As for my opinion, it’s a hit or miss thing. The Sounders just won the USL Championship over Atlanta at the Starfire Sports Complex in Tacoma. They have a great fanbase, but if there are only 4000 for a USL game, MLS is should prepare for Qwest Field to have 20,000 fans in a 66,000 seat stadium.

Marion Jones Cheated

It’s not surprising at all. Marion Jones single handedly wrecked her career with steroids, and now she has announced her retirement. The US track and field star plead guilty to a judge that she had been doping before her remarkable 2000 Sydney Olympics run. Now the officials want her medals. In a way, it’s tragic. To see a star athlete, go from gold medal winner, to being broke and possibly stripped of all of her medals, is somewhat sad. The part that isn’t sad, is the fact that this is yet another athlete, who collected all the medals and awards, threw it away to drugs. But you know what, if they drug tested everyone, sports would be wrecked as we know it.

Tony Gwynn Inadvertently Crushes Chip Caray and Bob Brenly

Disclaimer: It’s not real, I’m making fun of the dude’s weight.

As if the playoffs couldn’t get any worse for TBS, baseball legend Tony Gwynn critically injured Chip Caray and Bob Brenly as he continued to expand, causing Brenly and Caray to get pinned against the walls of the commentator booth. You can clearly see Brenly pleading for help just moments before Gwynn ate his 45th burger of the night. Sources say that the 2 men are in critical condition, but should improve magically to call game 2 of the Yankees/Indians.
