NFL Picks Week 6

10/13/2007 Mookie Leave a comment

I’ve been picking games with my dad for now the 4th year running (I haven’t beaten him once). On the year I’m 48-28, while my dad is 53-23 early on. Let’s change that this week shall we with my picks for this week.

Bengals @ Chiefs: I’m sorry Donatevo, but Kansas City is too incompetent offensively, that Cincy can stop them. This streak has to stop. Bengals 23 Chiefs 13

Texans @ Jaguars: The AFC South looks strong this year, no one has a losing record in the division if you notice. The Jags defense is playing awesome football, and improving offensively. Houston should’ve whooped Miami last week, but they are 3-2, but their main weakness is playing consistent offense. Jaguars 16 Texans 9

Dolphins @ Browns: This game plans to suck on 5434 levels. Browns 21 Dolphins 10

Vikings @ Bears: The Bears probably saved their season with that upset win over Green Bay. Brian Griese is starting to throw the ball well, the defense forced 5 turnovers last week, which was the key in their comeback. Look for Charles Tillman to be a key player against Minnesota, who don’t know anything about offense. Bears 27 Vikings 7

Eagles @ Jets: If Philly can’t beat the Jets, that’s game, set, and match. The New York Jets are so bad, and that lack of a deep threat will kill them. Eagles 21 Jets 17

Rams @ Ravens: What is the reason for Gus Fuerotte being the starting QB? Ravens 16 Rams 3

Titans @ Buccaneers: This Titans team is legit. Vince Young is very underrated, yet he gets very little credit for his leadership. They have a tremendous running game, an improving passing game, but that defense has been phenomenal. Tampa came off a brutal beatdown to Indy, and they’ve lost 200 running backs. If they don’t get that stagnant offense going tomorrow, forget their chances. Titans 22 Buccaneers 13

Redskins @ Packers: Wow, who would’ve thought this would be a big game? Green Bay has found a running game, the passing game is top notch, but the turnovers could be costly, against a Redskins team that has been revamped under offensive coordinator Al Saunders. That being said…… Packers 31 Redskins 24

Panthers @ Cardinals: Sean Salisbury will hate this idea of a Carolina butt kicking. Cardinals 34 Panthers 17

Raiders @ Chargers: Good news, Oakland is leading the division with just a 2-2 record. Bad news, San Diego just manhandled Denver at Mile High, and the Raiders are ripe for the picking. Chargers 24 Raiders 13

Patriots @ Cowboys: Game of the year status for now, but will it live up to the hype? Dallas barely survived Buffalo, but that comeback by Romo shows that he is just as gutsy as Tom Brady on a bad night. However, New England is far better than the Bills offensively and defensively, so they could have their hands full. New England destroyed every team in their path, and now they face their first tough test of the year. The only weakness I can spot for the Pats, is that whenever Brady gets hassled, he is an average QB, and Dallas has a great pass rush. Wow….this is tougher than I thought. Cowboys 28 Patriots 27

Saints @ Seahawks: The Saints are winless, turn the ball over all the time, and they face a team that is still angry that they got blanked by the Steelers. Seattle is depleted offensively, with the wrist injury to Shaun Alexander, the foot injury for Deion Branch, and the career ending injury to Mack Strong. But, the Saints defense totally sucks, so this is going to be an easy win for Seattle.

Seahawks 30 Saints 16

Giants @ Falcons: I’m freaking sick of watching the Giants, I won’t bother to break this down. Falcons 20 Giants 13.

England Advances to Rugby World Cup Final

England 14 France 9: Yeah, I follow rugby now. The Brits may as well make Jonny Wilkinson a cult hero. He scored a drop-goal and a penalty in the last 5 minutes of the game to knock the hosts out of the tournament. England went off to a flying start within 90 seconds with a Josh Lewsey try (the equivalent to a touchdown for my American friends, but 5 points for a try, and 2 points for the conversion). France however went into halftime with the lead on 2 penalties (3 points for a penalty or drop-goal) by Lionel Beauxis. The Frenchman and Wilkinson traded penalties later in the 2nd half to make it 9-8 France, before Wilkinson sent England through.

The Brits will defend their title against either South Africa (who pounded them in group play) or Cinderella team Argentina.

In other news: LSU lost…so no one wants to stay in the top 10?

I check the Seattle Times website this morning, and I just happen to see this headline…

Pac-10 Football Preview | Arizona tests Trojans

Arizona tests Trojans eh? So it’s a step in the right direction when it comes to cutting down on fertility rates.
