What the Losers Are Saying: Week 13 Edition

It’s NFL season so look out for this every Tuesday/Wednesday. We won’t go everywhere for every fan’s reaction (usually 5-6 teams are picked) but the deemed “best losers” of the day make the cut. WTLAS takes a trip to Washington, New England, San Francisco, Dallas, and Pittsburgh this week. Join me after the jump.

Washington

Daswann14 on the Redskins’ latest way to lose a game.

I think I may be completely wrong about Jason Campbell. He’s played really well as of late and I believe behind a good offensive line he can perform beyond his current level as starting QB for a miserable football team.

Shaun Suisham is gone so ‘Skins fans are joyous. Carlos Rogers and Laron Landry should be dumped at season’s end. That secondary is pathetic. Even when Washington finally hit 30 points for the first time since 2007, they had to have a comedy of errors.

Kareem Moore’s INT that ended up being a fumble return for a TD by New Orleans’ Robert Meachem is a microcosm of their entire season.

Oh and yes, as of last night they are officially eliminated from playoff contention.

New England

For the first time in a long time, our New England Patriots lose back-to-back regular season games.  And yet again, we come up short in the second half.  There is no single play that typically loses a game.  In this game, our defense was absolutely horrible against the pass.  But today I will blame a 4th and 6 “go for it” for this loss.  This is absolutely pitiful football against a division rival, a win we absolutely needed to seal up this division.

Yet again, we fail on the road.  Yet again, hubris gets in the way of winning a game.  Miami came up strong in the second half to take this game.  Even without Ronnie Brown and the Wildcat, the Patriots still manage to screw this one up.

Pats Pulpit’s MaPatsFan with the quick recap of the New England Patriots’ 22-21 defeat against the Miami Dolphins.

The empire is over. Every great team must have a stumbling block. They should win out looking at their schedule, but the empire is over. A nation weeps….in happiness.

Pittsburgh

Why don’t the Steelers just go home for the rest of the season? They obviously don’t want to play anymore. Send them home!

I can’t stand it! Another blown lead! To the Raiders!!! We are in DIRE need of DB help! No business in the playoffs anyway. Way to unleash hell!!!

wooo, good job steelers

f*ck

Can’t watch Steelers defense until Troy comes back.

You can’t be a defensive genius if your defense revolves around 1 single player. A defensive genius should be able to go to Cleveland, for example, and have success.

An assortment of quotes from BTSC the moment the RAIDERS (!) beat the Steelers at Heinz Field.

If Troy Polamalu means that much to their defense then they need some revamping. Almost all of that has to be in the secondary because William Gay is just pathetic and they can’t get INTs. What happened to this team?

They can beat Cleveland right? RIGHT?!

San Francisco

RIP PLAYOFFS

nobody’s fault but our own

Gonna get a good pick. Gonna lose to the Cardinals, and Eagles

Alright, now might as well just bring on the fucking tank the rest of the season

One of the worst coached games anyone will ever see now that Nolan isn’t a head coach anymore.

What an utterly inept, clueless, pathetic football team. There was no excuse to lose this game.

SH*T THAT’S F*CK!!

Sigh, I already get my masochist going on when I watch the Warriors, this is just utterly depressing.

Immediate comments from Niners Nation as the Seahawks beat the 49ers 20-17 on a last-second Olindo MAH-RAY field goal.

I like Mike Singletary. I really do. How you can blow your timeouts halfway through the first quarter is beyond me. I’ve never seen that happen. Anyone want to check when is the last time a team blew all of its timeouts for the half in under 10 minutes?

Reverse punt return failure, receivers can’t catch, Gore can’t get rid of the fumbling problems….this Niners team is sorely underachieving.

I will concede that Alex Smith is an amicable QB now who has weapons in Vernon Davis and Michael Crabtree…if they feel like catching the ball. NINE drops by 49ers receivers in this game. NINE!

Oh, and SEA! HAWKS! WHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dallas

In a game that the Cowboys could put away a team’s playoffs throat, they didn’t even put a hand on the throat of the Giants.  The Giants took advantage of a Marion Barber fumble before halftime to take the momentum away, and came out to win the game, 31-24.

I am not going to throw statistics at you or numbers, but the Cowboys were outcoached, outplayed, out (anything) this whole game, even when they had the lead 10-0.  Does this team not realize that you have to match the other team’s level of intensity?

I still love this team, and it hurts me to see them just allow other teams to stay in the fight.  Does this team not have heart? Desire?  Or the willingness to do what it takes to come out with a win?  I am seriously doubting that right now.

They could have put this team away early in the first half by making a field goal, or even better a touchdown.  That would have made it 13-0 or 17-0.

Jason Garrett’s play calling can be super genius at times but can be dumb and dumber as well.  He was somewhere in between today, but closer to the dumb and dumber.  In the Razorback, why run the same play all the time?  They need to do other things with it as well.  Garrett seems to stick too much to the plan and doesn’t make changes to adjust with what’s happening in the game.

The Hole in the Roof Fan Report breaks down Dallas’ umpteenth December failure in a row, this time against the New York Giants.

Dallas will make the playoffs by the skin of their teeth and then capitulate in the first round. For now I can’t blame Tony Romo by any stretch of the imagination. When does Wade Phillips file his walking papers? I bet you with a better coach Dallas would be thinking about a first-round bye and not missing the playoffs.

Bold call: Marion Barber is traded in the offseason. Barber is expendable and is starting to decline. They have Tashard Choice and Felix Jones, both of whom are capable running backs and open up the offense a little bit.

That’s it for this week’s edition. The season is winding down but the anger of a football fan is rising.

It’s about time Dallas fans (or this one in particular, I can imagine others share that sentiment now) wake up to what I have been saying about Dallas for the past year now (link: http://fireandyreidnow.blogspot.com/2008/12/were-in-playoffs-were-in-playoffs-were.html). The Cowboys are a bunch of talented individuals with no team heart.
