For as long as this video is up, please remember the moment Steven Gerrard’s lazy backpass gifted Chelsea the opening goal of their crucial game against Liverpool en route to an easy 2-0 win. Outside of one chance from Alberto Aquilani going off of the crossbar, Petr Cech’s goal was never tested. Want to guess how many saves Cech needed to make? Exactly. He made ZERO saves. That’s almost the equivalent of throwing the game. Then again, it’s Liverpool, and they stink this season, so maybe this is seriously the best they can do.
Manchester United won 1-0 over Sunderland with Wayne Rooney starting today despite the whole “out for the season with a groin injury” but it could all be for naught. Next week, the last day of the 2009-10 Barclays Premier League season, United’s hopes for a title rest upon Wigan Athletic’s shoulders. In other words, unless their entire squad catches a major flu bug, the Blues are your champions.
