Former Gonzaga star and current Lakers bench cheerleader Adam Morrison has won his 2nd NBA Championship ring as his team won 83-79 over the Boston Celtics in game 7 of the Finals. Despite ABC’s attempts to convince me that this game (and series) was actually good, it was horrid, putrid, and painful to watch up until the final minute. When Kobe Bryant was having a disastrous shooting night, Ron Artest, Pau Gasol, Derek Fisher, and Sasha Vujacic all came up with clutch to rally from a 13 point deficit towards a dramatic victory over their greatest rivals.
Phil Jackson has ring #11, Kobe Bryant and Derek Fisher each have 5 championship rings, Ron Artest has his 1st….Luke Walton and Adam Morrison have 2.
I was very wrong in my prediction (again). The Celtics had the game and let it get away. I’ve criticized the Lakers throughout the playoffs for blowing these gargantuan leads but squeezing by with narrow victories. Tonight they had to overcome adversity and rally from double-digits to beat the Boston Celtics.
Kobe Bryant won Finals MVP and had a double-double tonight. He was 6-24 from the floor but had 15 rebounds and the difference in this game was Los Angeles’ domination on the boards.
You probably saw the game, I don’t need to recap it for you; actually I’d rather not go through that one again. Intense, physical, but hardly entertaining series.
Congrats to the Lakers for their repeat and also to the Celtics for defying the critics in the regular season and making a fantastic playoff run, albeit coming up just short of the ultimate glory.
Now it’s time to focus 100% on the World Cup.
