Mark Hominick needed to defeat George Roop tonight and come away relatively unscathed so he could fight Jose Aldo in Toronto for the UFC Featherweight Championship on April 30th. Hominick succeeded and provided a brutal TKO win followed up with Roop stumbling his way to the center of the ring after the referee stoppage.
It sets up Aldo vs. Hominick in a few month’s time and that looks to be a highly intriguing title fight between the division’s two top strikers.
In case you’re wondering, the referee should not have just left Roop alone after stopping it. Instead he should’ve kept Roop down until the doctors came.
