NFL to Release Possibly Worthless Regular Season Schedule Tomorrow

A preview of what youll be watching this fall instead of the NFL regular season.

Good news, football fans! The NFL has announced something that will delay your thoughts about which CFL team you want to root for this year.

Tomorrow at 7 PM ET the NFL will release the grand regular season schedule. This coming on the heels of the league also announcing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Chicago Bears will face each other in the very distracting and completely pointless London game. It’s the fifth year the NFL has willingly taken away a home game from local fans in order to push their product towards a market not worth attacking.

But back to the schedule, here’s more details…..

The NFL will officially announce the 2011 schedule on Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET.

The schedule will be released on NFL Network.

ESPN2 will host a schedule analysis show from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Got to love ESPN. A schedule analysis show? Never mind the fact we may not have an NFL season at all, but why analyze a schedule on an assumption that the teams will not change in quality from the previous season? Have you ever watched this show and heard Merril Hoge and co. salivate over the Colts/Patriots when you have no idea whether or not something catastrophic could happen (like Tom Brady blowing out his knee against the Chiefs)? It’s laughable. You can hardly analyze week 1 much less a playoff chase.

Tomorrow we will find out how many 1 PM ET games FOX will put the Seahawks on in addition to the 4-5 occasions the San Francisco 49ers will be shown in primetime because “Alex Smith could really break through this year”*
* ….and then the league will announce the season has been canceled a few months later.
