I can’t believe that just happened. The Miami Heat were in control of their series against the Chicago Bulls and had a chance to clinch tonight. With about 3 minutes left and down 77-65 I declared the game over and assumed Miami would just take care of business in game 6. Nope. LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, and Chris Bosh scored the last 18 points en route to a stunning 83-80 comeback win over Chicago at the United Center. This rally arguably was better than Dallas’ game 4 stunner over Oklahoma City on the basis that this was on the road and Miami had nothing going for them offensively prior to this amazing turn of events.
Miami takes the series 4-1 much like their Finals opponent did last night. This means that Dallas and Miami will once again square off for the NBA’s biggest prize. Both sides have only been this far twice and both times they’ve gone at the same time. In 2006, Dallas blew a 2-0 series lead to the Wade-led Heat and lost in 6 games. This year the Heat have home court and are probably the favorites to win it all.
Tuesday, May 31st (seriously? It’s been ages since it started in May) we’ll go through all the hype and suspense of perhaps our last NBA Finals for two years if the league does have a lockout. For some reason I haven’t been too immersed in this year’s playoffs but both conference finals were entertaining to watch with some high quality basketball being played.
Dallas vs. Miami will bring you the players you want to see win a championship. That’s right, who is up for Peja Stojakovic, Mike Bibby, Jason Kidd, Mike Miller, and Shawn Marion all competing for their first ever ring?!! I most certainly am.
