….When can I pick up my winnings? This is from May 31st, 2011.
Uhhhhh…..Dallas in 6 games. I want LeBron James to get his ring but I feel that Joel Anthony cannot guard Dirk Nowitzki, they might have to put Bosh or even James on Dirk to compensate. Dallas’ bench is deeper and better than Miami’s and I think that will affect the series especially in close games where the starters need to rest. Miami’s way of winning the title is to prevent 2nd chance opportunities and close down the outside shooting of the Mavericks. That’s easier said than done, and I’ve got the Mighty Mark Cubans finally winning their first ever NBA title.
Wham-o. Dallas outplayed Miami essentially from game 4 to the final buzzer of last night’s clincher. I’m really happy to see Dirk Nowitzki, Jason Kidd, Jason Terry, Shawn Marion, Mark Cuban (especially him), Peja Stojakovic, etc. all pay their dues and win their first ever NBA title. Actually, I’m fairly certain none of Dallas’ roster had ever won a ring prior to last night….I might need to check that one to see if the fact holds up.
Miami? Yeah I pretty much said from game 1 of the regular season that you need an offensive center and it showed. Joel Anthony was brutal and they had no answer for Dallas’ crushing zone defense. James, Bosh, and Wade should not constantly be the ones attacking the rim and getting forced into tough fadeaway jumpers. Additionally, their bench players are really really slow. JJ Barea could probably outrun Miami’s bench with concrete around his ankles. Time to get a point guard, Miami and it does not have to be a star player. They can all cry about it now and mock Nowitzki’s illness for another 5 months, but don’t worry, they’ll be champions soon.
The night belonged to Dallas and congratulations to them on a remarkable season and getting sweet sweet revenge on the team that denied them their first title back in 2006. Let’s hope that inspires Vancouver to do the same thing tonight!
