It’s summer, school is out, but sports is at a dead period this time of year. I don’t follow baseball beyond skimming the Seattle Mariners boxscore, but thankfully MMA is year-round. This Sunday a huge welterweight clash headlines UFC on Versus 4 in Pittsburgh, PA, and this is your stop for live coverage of the televised broadcast. Nate “The Great” Marquardt makes his welterweight debut, dropping from middleweight, to take on red-hot prospect Rick “The Horror” Story in what should be a very entertaining matchup. Story is taking this fight on a few weeks notice after Marquardt’s original opponent, Anthony Johnson, pulled out due to injury. Last May, Story notched the biggest win of his career with a unanimous decision win over former title contender Thiago Alves at UFC 130. Now he’ll close out June looking to add another big name to his growing collection of victims.
Also on the card:
Pat Barry vs. Cheick Kongo
John Howard vs. Matt Brown
Matt Mitrione vs. Christian Morecraft
The broadcast starts at 9 PM ET/6 PM PT on Versus and any preliminary fights that get shown on TV will indeed get the “quasi-live” treatment as well.
I won’t use Coveritlive as I think it’s not an ideal service for fight coverage, so it’s the refresh button for you the reader.
