Arizona has their QB of the future and have decided to break the bank for a guy who has barely been able to get any playing time in Philadelphia. The Eagles demanded an extraordinary ransom for their highly-priced backup, asking for a first-round pick from a second-round pick who has played in a whopping 19 games. They needed a sucker, and the QB-deprived Cardinals were it! And they got an even better deal than what they asked for!
The Arizona Cardinals have completed their deal with the Philadelphia Eagles to get quarterback Kevin Kolb, sources told ESPN.com senior NFL writer John Clayton.
Kolb will get a new contract extension of five years for $63 million, with a little more than $22 million guaranteed. Kolb will be under contract for six years.
The Eagles receive cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and a second-round pick.
Kolb began last season as the Eagles ‘ starter but left the first game with a concussion and ending up losing the No. 1 job to Michael Vick, who enjoyed a career resurgence in 2010.
Kolb requested a trade from the Eagles so he can be a starter in the NFL.
$63 MILLION CONTRACT FOR KEVIN KOLB?! Oh yeah, he better produce right away. Philadelphia got away with highway robbery with this trade. Kevin Kolb netted them a 2nd round draft pick and a former first-round pick and Pro Bowler in Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.
And that beastly receiving corp the Cards had during their Super Bowl run is now down to Larry Fitzgerald and Early Doucet. Steve Breaston and Anquan Boldin are elsewhere. Oh yeah this has all the potential to be a complete disaster. Philadelphia’s offense is arguably the most talented in the league and now Kolb is going to a Cardinals team slowly destroying themselves from within just to get him.
Please suck, Kevin. I know you can do it.
