Does Curt Menefee have to host every single sports event on FOX? I have absolutely no clue if Curt knows anything about MMA (I’ve seen him on boxing events on Showtime) but this is what the TV execs decided was best for the first ever UFC card on network TV….
FOX has announced its full lineup of programming that will air before and after next Saturday’s historic UFC telecast, and it’s without a doubt the most impressive TV lineup served up to fans surrounding any UFC event.
9:00 p.m. ET — UFC on FOX broadcast, hosted by Curt Menefee, along with Dana White, Brock Lesnar and Joe Rogan. Mike Goldberg and Rogan will call the heavyweight title fight.
10 p.m. ET — UFC on FOX post-fight show on FUEL TV, hosted by Glazer, along with Florian and Bonnar
In addition, FOX Sports Radio will air five hours live coverage on Nov. 12, which will include pre-fight analysis, the call of the heavyweight title fight and a post-fight show hosted by MMA journalist Larry Pepe.
UFC on FOX 1 takes place at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif.
For real? The FOX broadcast was BEGGING for Jay Glazer to host this thing. At least he’s a credible MMA journalist and doesn’t have the personality of a wooden board like Menefee. Instead he’s going to be on FUEL TV, a channel I had no idea existed until FOX and the UFC announced his deal a couple of months ago.
Oh well, everything else looks solid. Brock Lesnar as an analyst? That sounds cool. Dana White and Joe Rogan yelling at each other? I’m used to that. FOX is going all out for this and frankly I cannot wait to see Cain Velasquez vs. Junior Dos Santos. Maybe, just maybe, I will do a live blog of this fight and maybe the Clay Guida vs. Ben Henderson #1 contender match airing on Foxsports.com.
