I have to use pictures because currently, words fail me.
It’s after the jump….
YES!!!! HALFWAY THERE!!!!! ALEX BURROWS IS HUNGRY FOR A STANLEY CUP! ELEVEN SECONDS INTO OVERTIME AND HE IS A HERO ONCE MORE!(VIDEO AFTER THE JUMP)
Not much more needs to be said.
It took one goal, one chance, and with 19 seconds left Raffi Torres scored the only goal of the game to give the Vancouver Canucks a game 1 win over the Boston Bruins. A neutral zone giveaway led to Ryan Kesler just staying onside to retrieve and attack in the waning moments, and he passed it to Jannik Hansen, who found Raffi Torres alone for the tap-in past a stranded Tim Thomas. It’s unfortunate for Thomas as he stood on his head tonight, but in the end the equally great Roberto Luongo ends up with the 3rd shutout of his post-season.
This game was filled with penalties, including a double-minor on Daniel Sedin that resulted in Boston’s first power-play being 4 minutes. Of course, the Bruins wasted all of their power-plays tonight and could not provide the crucial goal that might have been enough to steal a road win.
Three more wins from glory. Don’t worry I sound (well……type) calm now but I’m not. I LOVE RAFFI TORRES! Sure he has a nasty mean streak and plays dirty at times but what a night to step up to the plate.
If it’s too much to ask from the sports gods, can they please magically heal Dan Hamhuis? You get Manny Malhotra back — for the record he didn’t play tonight — and promptly lose another defenseman.
